I hope everyone is staying safe as COVID-19 gets worse! This week we will dive into one of my favorite free apps of all time: Winno, as well as a video from a fantastic productivity YouTuber! 🦠
App Spotlight: Winno 📰
What is Winno? 📩
Winno is a free news app for iOS that is AMAZING for students and professionals. It provides readers with the latest news in an easy and digestible form. I use it every day and wouldn’t be able to stay informed otherwise. While this isn’t directly related to productivity, it is the #1 way to keep with the chaotic times that are before us today.
Why should I download Winno? 📱
I cannot recommend a news app more highly. The app provides users with an easy feed to read, as well as many customization options for notifications. While it is not as comprehensive as Google News or Apple News, it provides a fantastic microcosm of the latest headlines and easy links to read more!
I really recommend giving it a try! It is very intuitive and can completely change the way you approach modern day information.
How is it structured? ◘
It provides feeds similar to Twitter or Instagram with hashtags that you can follow based on your interests! Here is what mine looks like:
Okay, I’m interested. How do I download this free resource? 😲
All you have to do is search for it on the App Store! I have also made a guide for it linked here.
Video of the Week: How To Maximize Opportunity and Success 💰
What is this video about? 🧠
This was a really insightful video by possibly my favorite productivity YouTuber, Ali Abdaal, based on two different mental models on approaching opportunities and taking advantage of them to live happier, more productive lives.
Window-Openers: These are people who see what they want (through a window) and reach out to get exactly what they wanted. Their decisions are based on obtaining the end result they want.
Door-Knockers: These are people who agree to opportunities without knowing what the end result will be. They just go for it without knowing what the benefits will be.
What is the difference between Window-Openers and Door-Knockers? 🚪
Ali talks more about how Door-Knockers generally have a better life outcome and the benefits of always being open to new opportunities. He reflects on a conversation he had with Bobby Seagull, a wildly successful educational speaker about the opportunities he created through being a yes-man and door-knocker.
It’s only 8 minutes long! I highly recommend watching a portion of it (perhaps at 1.5x speed if you’re in a hurry) to motivate yourself to take on more experiences even if they may not automatically show any apparent rewards.
Don’t forget to check out my guide on Winno and thanks for reading the second issue of HumanOS!
